Innovate Durban is consistently approached in fairly high volume by entrepreneurs and innovators looking for aid and assistance with their ideas and innovations for startups. What is critical is setting in place mechanisms for early-stage innovator support, and enabling platforms by which innovators can access support, be it digital platforms or in-person platforms such as events and workshops.

One of the common needs that can be bundled into a ‘toolkit’ is support for a startup. There are also several public, academic and private incubators and programmes that support startups in the city. Despite this, it appears many start ups find it difficult to know what support is available in the city and how to access it. Innovate Durban will create a start up guide and provide linkage between start ups and partners that can support them and create partnerships with these entities where they don’t yet exist.
